PROTOTYPING A WEB-PUBLISHED ACADEMIC ENGLISH COURSEBOOK FOR INDONESIAN PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS

This publication addresses the prototyping phase of a web-published academic English coursebook, which is exclusively designed and developed to assist 6th semester primary school teacher education study program students at Universitas Negeri Makassar in learning English. Large-scale social restriction due Covid-19 pandemic, restricts any form regular face-to-face meeting, fact that an coursebook has not been yet locus this led authors set as both important urgent goal be reached through design-based research, comprised (1) preliminary study; (2) prototyping; (3) assessment; (4) systematic reflection. In artefact, standard web programming languages including PHP, HTML, CSS were synergized. The samples 5 classes consisting 125 majoring Makassar, Indonesia. Through iterative cycle prototyping, findings provide ideal design addressed solve contextual educational issue detected mandated by literature on research. Besides, discusses ideas development work for purposes. addition, also deals with effectiveness assisting non-English major online distance delivery mode. theoretically contributes domain teaching foreign language (TEFL) instructional design.
